J. Brummet
Author, Activist
Prior to her writing career, J. Brummet was a facilitator of equine therapy, her passion for horses and helping those in need entwining, and with life-changing results.
She is also a strong advocate for Native American charities, supporting their causes and contributing to their mission. Her wish is to donate a portion of future book sales to this cause with the hope of making a difference for a vastly underrepresented society.
Through her writing, J. Brummet aims to bring the rich heritage and traditions of the Navajo people to a global audience, while also raising awareness about the issues faced by Native American communities. This includes showcasing Navajo Native American culture through her novel, to which it is intricately tied.
J. Brummet's life experiences have taught her that, while people may differ in many ways, we are all connected by shared humanity. J. Brummet’s deep interest in Native American culture inspired her to explore and share these stories, hoping to inspire others to learn more about this rich heritage.
Now retired and living in southwest Missouri, she enjoys spending her time volunteering, birding, and hiking. Beware of the Wind and the Darkness is a reflection of her passion for storytelling, shaped by both her personal experiences and her research into Native American culture.
